And thank god for SUDDENLY MIDORI because Wally really doesn't want to deal with Mr. Komaki right now. His girlfriend is clearly more important.
"I missed you, too, Dolly. You had me worried, I thought something horrible had happened." Mr. Komaki might beg to differ, but pregnancy isn't exactly horrible in Wally's book, because he's seen a lot of horrible stuff in his line of work, and conceiving new life is pretty much the exact opposite of that.
He glances over to Mr. Komaki, who's still glowering at him, before returning his full attention to Midori. "Yeah, he told me. How long have you known? I mean... it's been at least a month since... you know." His eyes instinctively fall to Midori's stomach, and he finds his hand pressing against the fabric of Midori's shirt, trying to feel through it, feel where their little embryo is growing, even as they speak.
Their little embryo... that, in a month or so, will be their little fetus—their baby, their little boy or girl. And Wally can't help but swell with some sort of pride, because he loves Midori more than anything in the whole world, so why shouldn't he be proud that they've made life together? Yeah, they're not prepared for this in the slightest, they're too young, and they don't have a clue what they're doing—but there is no way in hell Wally won't stand by Midori through every single moment of it.
"There's really a tiny little kid in there, isn't there," he whispers absently, still marveling in the fact that he's actually going to be a dad, now that the initial shock of "OH GOD SHE'S PREGNANT WHAT DO" has worn off. The mere thought of being a parent is terrifying and exciting at the same time, and despite the fact that everyone will probably be against them keeping this kid, he will do everything in his power to make sure they do.
