[And Dick totally doesn't feel the slightest ping of disappointment as he watches Wally get dressed. Not at all. In fact, instead of watching Wally get dressed he reaches for his bag and puts on his sunglasses, getting dressed as well.]

[Oh Dick, you'll be seeing half-naked Wally again soon enough. I mean. Uh. No, no you won't. ANYWAY Wally's totally disappointed when Dick puts his sunglasses back on. Because now he'll just have to rely on his imagination to replicate those baby blues—which, to be honest, isn't hard, but it's nothing compared to seeing the real deal. He'll just pretend he's not disappointed by shrugging instead.]

Nah, you pick, man. I am literally the least picky person on the planet. Anywhere's fine with me.

[He smiles at that, stomach rumbling again.] Sweet man, cause there's this one place I haven't tried yet that looked good. Let's go.

[And he's pulled his shirt on and has his shoes, putting his towel over his shoulder, wondering just when he'll be seeing him half-naked again but also not cause, uh, that would not be bro.] You ready?

[Shoes on, and he's ready to go.] Ready as I'll ever be.

Sweet, let's go.

[He walks off expecting Wally to be right next to him, hands in his pockets and heading off towards the boardwalk, eyeing all the stands and the last few stragglers spending their last days on the beach.]

Man, I am not ready for classes to start. Not at all.

[And Wally is right next to him, because honestly when they're together they're always right next to each other. It's mostly an unconscious thing, standing so close to each other, but to the wandering eye it could totally been seen as... something else. Let's just leave them to their ignorant bliss for now.]

Ugh, dude, don't remind me. I am going to be so bored.

[Shakes his head, stopping at one of the stalls and checking out the menu before moving on, not approving of the obviously quality choices.]

There's going to be like, no time for missions or hanging out or anything.

[Standards, Dick. You need to get rid of them at places like this.]

Geez, Rob, don't be so depressing. [Bropunch!] We'll totally still have time. And if we don't, I'll make time.

[He's smiling again, shoving his shoulder against Wally cause they're just that close and it all still feels right.]

As long as it doesn't get either of us in any trouble. [But Wally can totally hear the and even if it does because when has getting in trouble ever stopped them before? They walk a bit more down the boardwalk before he finally decides on one and walks up, ordering a burger, fries and drink and turning back to Wally.]

Order what you want, man. Bruce gave me his card.

[And Wally laughs, holding up three fingers.] Scout's honor. [Except it's like Wally's job to get them in trouble, and Dick knows it, so the honor was pretty much made sarcastically.]

[Then he's staring a little incredulously.]

Seriously? He just gave you his card? [Because credit cards are like a big deal okay. He figured Dick would just have cash, which somehow isn't as big a deal, even when you're loaded.]

[Eyes are rolling, bro. Because really, more times than not he's carrying around one of Bruce's cards. Just another way to for Bruce to avoid Dick and all: don't even need to ask for money. Just use the card.]

Just order, man, or I'll take back the offer.

[Holding his hands up defensively.] Okay, okay.

[And he orders four burgers (just so he can stack them all on top of each other), curly fries, and a large drink. But don't think he didn't notice that weird change in demeanor just then, Dick. Because he did. He just chooses to ignore it because there has already been a lot of awkward today and he doesn't really want to have to deal with more.]

[And he hands the awkward teenager behind the counter his card and takes his food, waiting to sign the receipt before walking with Wally back to the tables, trying to avoid the awkward he left in that last conversation.

Which of course makes it more awkward, because noticing the awkward always makes it more awkward, and...oh god Dick stop thinking. You're acting like, a...well...dick. Good job.]

Do you have any ideas for your science fair this year? [Yeah, cause that's totally not awkward. God, there's the awkward again. Stop doing that.]

[Wally thanks the guy and follows Dick with his stack of burgers and fries in one hand, and his drink in the other. Just don't drop anything, Wally.

Thankfully, he manages to make it to the table with all of his food still safely in his grasp and not on the ground. And, Dick, be very glad Wally isn't feeling the same awkward vibe. He is much more focused on food. And we all know how important food is to Wally. So he's got a bite of his quadruple cheeseburger sticking out of his mouth when Dick asks him about the science fair.] Mmmuh—

[Don't be rude, Wally. Chew and swallow before you talk.] Haven't really thought about it, actually. [You know, his mind's been on... other things... none of which include Dick in any way, shape, or form.] But I mean, I don't even really have to try anymore. There's pretty much no competition.

[He nods, agreeing, cause yeah. Wally is just that smart. And maybe that's just really attractive. He takes another bite of his burger, chewing thoughtfully and not thinking about Wally. At all. Of course not.]

You have to do something better than last year, though. Beat yourself and all that. [That makes him laugh, cause really, who does that? Besides, you know...him.]

[I think both of them are kind of sapiosexual, ngl. So they're like, perfect for each other because they're both ridiculously smart for their ages.]

Well, duh. [He's shoving fries in his mouth as he talks, which is kind of disgusting, but they're both guys so whatever.] And I still have the judges to impress. The district, state, and national judges, anyway. I don't even think the judges at my school judge anymore. I, like, automatically win. [...] Is that cheating?

[Yeah, that sounds about right. And then Dick laughs, smiling comfortably at him.] Your teachers would be so disappointed in you if they weren't totally blown away.

[And it takes him a few more bites before he actually finishes his burger and starts on his fries, watching as Wally continues to vacuum up his food.] And no, I doubt it. Don't they give extra credit for those things anyway? So the other kids have a reason to join it?

[And Wally laughs, coz yeah, they would.] Dude, they'd probably send me to some sort of counselor if that happened. "What? Wally didn't place first in the science fair? Something must be wrong with him!" Which, yeah, I guess there would be...

[Yeah, his food's practically gone by now. Maybe a few bites of burger left, and then there's the drink he's barely touched. So now it's time to slurp on that.] I think? I've always done it for fun. And I don't need extra credit anyway. I mean I could probably teach my chemistry class better than my teacher.

Something wrong with you? Never. [And he rolls his eyes to add a bit more sarcasm, but the grin he wears clearly gives away his joking manner.]

Dude, I still don't understand why they don't let you skip up grades. You would like AP classes so much more... [Dick isn't speaking from experience, of course. He might be smart but he hasn't gone that far yet. Just a couple of grades and all the languages, but hey. Who's counting? He takes a sip from his drink and pushes the last half of his fries towards Wally, cause he's done with them and knows Wally would appreciate them a bit more.]

Ha ha ha, very funny. [But he gladly accepts the last of Dick's fries. He hates wasting food, after all.]

It's not the school that's not letting me, it's my parents. My chemistry teacher keeps trying to push the AP sciences my direction, but I have to turn him down every time. I mean, I guess I could move up anyway and not tell my parents but they'd find out eventually. They just don't want me overloading myself with school—and as far as I know, AP classes have huge workloads. It'd be a challenge, which is what I need, but it's either KF and regular classes or AP classes and no KF. And I can't give up KF, so there's no real argument. [And he looks a little dejected, because he's a speedster, he does everything fast, including homework, so he's pretty damn sure he could handle AP and KF. But he still can't seem to convince his parents.]

[He sighs, looking out to the beach, because really. He will never understand Wally's parents. Ever. How could someone not want their kid to skip ahead in school? Even if it's just to try it?] I would say do it. I know you can keep the grades up, you know you can keep the grades up, I would say do it. If they find out and you can keep the grades up, then there's no problem right?

[But even as he says it he shakes his head.] But at the same time you can't give up KF. The team isn't the same without you around. [And maybe there's more to that then he's saying, but it's not like he's going to even think that far into it.] So I don't know, man. Your parents are weird.

[Wally finishes off his drink and shrugs.] Yeah, I guess? I'd definitely be way less bored if I could switch. Of course, even in AP Physics or Chemistry, I'd still be kicking everyone's asses. [And he's back to his bragging smirk.] You know, natural talent and all that—not to mention the fact that my brain is basically a supercomputer.

I don't know, I'll figure something out. I could probably start taking classes at the community college if I wanted, which would be pretty sweet.

[Then a laugh.] Dude, I am the team. You guys are nothing without me. It's just a bonus that I've got such dashing good looks. [HAHAHA so punny, Wally.]

[The smirk gets an eyeroll. Because that's basically the only way to respond to Wally's shit-eating grin. Which is so not really adorable ohmygodDickshutup.] You could just do my homework for me. You know, read my textbook and do all my work while you're sitting, bored in your class.

[And then he shrugs, taking another sip from his drink] That could work too. But at the same time that would make the upper classes, when you finally get there, so much more boring. Unless you just showed up and took random science classes. It's whatever you want to do, dude. It's your everyday life and all.

[That gets a blank stare, which quickly turns into Dick fighting off a smirk and a laugh.] Yeah, that's why it's a battle every day to keep Artemis and Megan off of you. I don't know how you manage. [But seriously, the pun does kill him, and he can't help but start laughing.]
